The Best Brunch Spots in Dallas
In the March 2012 issue of D Magazine, they published an article naming the Top Best Brunch Spots in Dallas. Anyone that lives in Dallas knows that brunching is quite the to-do. A lot of it about being seen, but for me, that’s honestly never been it. It’s really evolved over the years…
When I first moved back to Dallas post college, I brunched with friends to soak up the...

Color Run Dallas!
Let me start off by saying, if there is a Color Run in your city, sign up NOW! What is better than a little morning exercise where you start off all bland and white and are turn into a beautiful little running rainbow? Absolutely nothing! Sign up!!
How can you say no to this?
(P.S. there may not have been as much running as I had anticipated as there was a bit of a traffic jam at...

I’m not Catholic, but I like to give myself a good challenge and give a few things up for Lent each year. I’m thinking about giving up Starbucks and processed foods.
Why? Because I would probably be rich if I didn’t have Starbucks every morning (well $20/week richer), and maybe I’d get skinny/healthy if I gave up processed foods.
Do you think this is a good idea? IF...

TLLH Cooks: Chicken and Dumplings
If I can make something in my crock pot, I’m pretty much guaranteed to love it. Why? Because that means it’s easy and as we all know, I’m rather lazy. As I mentioned earlier, I made chicken and dumplings a couple weeks back and I was honestly shocked at how good they turned out. I was a bit nervous about it going into the experiment, but I’ll definitely be making it again...

I just flipped through some old pictures (from 2 summers ago) and I was definitely slimmer. Looks like this girl needs to hit the pavement a little, or a lot, more. Maybe I should train for another half. Thoughts?! If so, what training program should I do?

We're Baaaacckkk - Ball of Famers Style
Back when The Dallas Fam and I were just young recent college grads romping around Dallas, we joined a Waka Kickball League. I don’t think any of us knew what to expect. Would we suck? Probably. Would we be better at flipcup than kickball? Probably. Would we be hungover every Friday for over 5 season? Probably. Turns out, we loved it. Every Thursday night, we’d play 45 minutes of...

TLLH Cooks: Chicken Spaghetti
So I don’t claim to be some renowned chef, but lately, I’ve been rocking the kitchen. Two weeks ago I made some chicken and dumplings in my crock pot and it was amazing! It was the hubs first introduction to chicken and dumplings which just seems crazy to me - I mean, everyone ate that as a kid. I had all intention of blogging the recipe and the one picture I took,...

i am exhausted.

a particular project I’m working on at work.
my super flat hair.
that’s all for now but I’m sure I’ll come up with more.

Book Club: Sarah's Key
Y’all, I have no idea how it snuck up on my, but it did. With so much going on in January and so much good reality tv to watch, before I realized it, OMGBC was just a couple days to ago. I had had a month to read the book… but no, I procrastinated in true Charla style. Anyway, February 9 was the day that I scheduled the (extrememly) casual and (very) informal book club. I mean, how...

Men* often forget Valentines. Really I have no idea how one could forget the holiday, seeing how Valentines cards and candy are on put out on the shelves New Years Day. This often leads to last-minute reservations at somewhere like Sushi Zushi or Mi Cocoina, followed by devouring a cheap, drug-store box of chocolates. Let’s be honest, it wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day without those moments,...

President Lee
That has a nice ring to it don’t you think??
With all the obnoxious presidential candidate non-sense (debates, commercials, interviews, etc.), I can’t help but think about myself as president. It’s ridiculous, I know, but I am convinced I have some great platforms and ideas that people would get behind. Here’s just a few things I would implement as President:
Overtime...

February Photo a Day
Well, this is a little belated… but know that I’m participating. Apparently I just can’t stand being the only one not on a band wagon (which is precisely why I’m wearing stripes today, drinking smartwater, and updating my fancy Erin Condren life planner).
Let’s hope I can remember to do this all 29 days of this month (obvious underachiever move picking the shortest...
